About the Program

The Next Generation Physicians Program is hosted by the Dallas County Medical Society Foundation and designed to give students early exposure to careers in medicine. Through structured activities, mentorship, and real-world experiences, students develop a deeper understanding of healthcare and their potential future path.

Students will live on campus at the University of Dallas and participate in a guided program designed to build knowledge, confidence, curiosity, and leadership skills while exploring what it means to become a physician and serve their community.

What Students Will Experience
  • Hands-on clinical activities and medical skill-building
  • Physician-led sessions covering real-world medical topics
  • Career exploration across medicine and healthcare fields
  • Leadership and communication activities with the National Student Leadership Council (NSLC)
  • A visit to a medical simulation lab to experience real-world clinical training
  • Mentorship opportunities with physicians, college students, and healthcare volunteers

Hands-On Clinical Rounds

Rotate through immersive clinical stations focused on vital signs, hematology and trauma basics, brain and mental health, and sports medicine. Students will practice using real medical equipment and learn to think like healthcare professionals.

Physician-Led Lectures

Learn directly from volunteer physicians through engaging lectures covering emergency medicine, human physiology, and the journey to becoming a doctor using real stories, real cases, and real-world experiences.

Surgical Rounds & Leadership

Participate in hands-on surgical lab activities, including dissections and suturing techniques, while also building leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through workshops and clinical simulations.

What Parents Should Know
  • The program is free for selected students
  • Students are supervised at all times by trained adults who have completed background checks
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided
  • Students stay on campus at the University of Dallas
  • The program takes place in a structured, safe, and supportive residential environment
  • Transportation is provided for off-campus activities
  • Students must apply and be selected to attend

To reserve your student's place in the DCMS Summer Medical Pathway Program, all required forms must be completed by July 10, 2026. Please submit each form below by the deadline.
